How to work the fashion trend folds
If your memories of pleated skirts you back to the horror of school uniforms and gymslips then it is time to correct. Pleats are back in fashion for summer 2011 and spring they are certainly nothing to do with the frumpy styles you have been forced to wear as a child! This is a trend very easy to carry, ideal for incorporation into outfits daywear or office, but very distinguished and elegant for evenings too. There are many different styles coming back into fashion – follow our guide advice to ensure you get it right. One thing you will notice though is that all styles are used for the entire circumference of the garment – a single pleat at the front or back of the skirt is not fashionable.
- Sunray
Sunray pleats are clean, tight folds that radiate outward like the rays of the sun at the edge of the garment where it becomes more complete. They are usually used on light fabrics like chiffon and soft to give movement and flexible rather than stiff. The folding technique sunshine is most often presented on skirts and dresses to add volume. - Structured
If the sun is look a little too retro or female for you, you may prefer a more structured style, wider, square knife-edge creases. This gives a very neat and crisp look, which is perfect for the office. A structured pleated skirt is very versatile. - Soft
A large field halfway between the sun and the gaze is structured in a relaxed, informal folds. This is perfect for casual summer skirts and dresses. When you choose a skirt, look for styles that start right at the narrowest point of your waist to emphasize your curves and to finish the look with a skinny belt for seventy chic. - Horizontal
horizontal pleats give a look striking tops and dresses. Keep the style simple to avoid a look that fastidious tucking of the texture will add a lot of interest already. Diagonal pleating on rooftops texture gives an eccentric, avant-garde look that shows you have really captured this trend versatile.
