Gothic dress is a style marked black or dark clothing worn by members of the goth subculture. Gothic fashion clothing, considered by many as a protest against extravagance, can be described as a profusion of dark velvet, fishnet stockings, lace, tight corsets, leather gloves and a purple shade. gothic clothing also has dark makeup and black face, black eyeliner, dark fingernails and hair dyed black.

Gothic clothing is divided into two time periods, early Gothic period (1200-1350) and late Gothic (1350-1450). The suits in the early Gothic period were more sophisticated, elegant and simple cutting of the Romanesque period. Sleeves to be clenched and forearms were given more importance. minimum cuts in gothic clothing were also a feature of early Gothic architecture. Gothic dresses were generally longer and were deep necklines. Styles changed rapidly during the late-Gothic.
